Hot news about the new control system of the 2-meter telescope

End of March 2009 the Institute of Astronomy and the Czech company Projectsoft (http://www.projectsoft.cz/) signed a contract for the design and manufacturing of a new control system for the 2-meter telescope of the National astronomical observatory – Rozhen (http://www.nao-rozhen.org/news/fr5_en.html). According to the contract the replacement of the old system should start begin of August. After several months of hard work in the headquarters of Projectsoft in Hradec Kralove, the new system is now ready and today, 27.07.2009 around 10:30 LMT, its components have been delivered to NAO. After several days the hot phase of this unique operation starts: mounting of new encoders, drives, industry controllers. The commissioning of the telescope with its new brain is expected by the end of September. This considerable upgrade of the 2-meter telescope is carried out with financial support by the National Science Fund (http://www.nsfb.net/) under contract DÎ 02-85.
