On Sunday the 4th of July the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Bulgaria, Mr. Simeon Djankov paid an unofficial visit to the National Astronomical Observatory Rozhen. Young astronomers working at the observatory showed the guest the 2 meter-wide reflector, which is the largest one in Southeastern Europe. They also demonstrated to him the current scientific goals, pursued with the astronomical instrument. The Deputy Prime Minister showed interest in the new telescope control system and made sure that it functions flawlessly by pointing the telescope towards an astronomical object that he chose himself.
