In 2015, under the threat of having to shut down, the Observatory staff organized a large online fundraising campaign. Thanks to the great response, this campaign turned out to be the most successful in the history of the Observatory and the facility managed to continue its normal work to date.
Donations were raised in several ways– via indiegogo, paypal and bank transfers.
Thanks to indiegogo 23675 ÅU were raised and another 1650 ÅU came via paypal. After all taxes 44700 BGN reached our bank accounts. Apart from that, we managed to raise another 20000 BGN, thanks to the generosity of a number of companies and individuals.
Funds were used to pay the high electricity bills, new heating appliance, important redecoration works, imminent bills and services payments. Here is a full report on all expenditure:
